Worldly wisdom is self-centered and contrary to the building up of God’s Kingdom. It is focused on societal norms. Societal norms that lead people to believe that their truth and happiness are better than living a life of sacrifice committed to serving God and putting Him first in all things (Romans 12:1).
Whereas, godly wisdom is Christ-focused, and when we lift Him, His glory is magnified, and He draws people to Himself (John 12:32).
Therefore, when we choose to live for Christ, we have to exchange our agenda for His plan. In doing so, we have to renew our minds and not be conformed to worldly views, which is the true worship of a righteous and holy God. Moreover, when we accept Christ’s absolute truth, we may discern what is right, pleasing, and the perfect will of our Heavenly Father. (Romans 12:2)
Remember, we are made in God’s image, and we should reflect His image and character in everything we do, be it at home, work, our community, in the grocery store, or wherever we are. But if the enemy could have it his way, he would have us living less than what God called us to do and lacking in our lives. He wants us to live contrary to how our Heavenly Father wants us to live.
The devil comes to sow discord and confusion. He whispers part truth to cast doubt in our hearts about what we know God has spoken the same as he did in the garden of Eden (Genesis 3:1-5). And if we’re not careful, we will accept part truth for the whole truth and make it our own reality. Then we will allow our own wisdom to supersede the knowledge of our holy and righteous God, and we end up living our truth rather than God’s truth.
Therefore, we have to look inward and ask the hard questions and answer them honestly. Am I living my own truth? Am I living based on worldly wisdom? Am I following my own plan? Do my actions look like the world?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, remember God is merciful. We can ask Him for forgiveness and to help us get on track with His plans for our lives. We can seek Him and be transformed into Christ’s image so that when people see us, they see our Father’s image.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being a loving and merciful Father. Show me any worldly views that I have accepted as my own. Then reshape my mindset so that I have Your Kingdom’s perspective. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Absolutely.Amen.
