When bad things happen to innocent people, it’s hard for us to comprehend. But the fact of the matter is, evil is present in the earth. The heart of some people is desperately wicked. And they won’t rest until they bring harm to or cause someone else to stumble. They sit back and plot heartless deeds because they assume that they will get something for “nothing.” But there’s a high price that is paid. The innocent suffer and way too often end up senselessly losing their lives. (Proverbs 1:10-12)
In the aftermath, people want answers and are left asking the proverbial question — Why?!?! Sometimes the evildoer will attempt to explain, but most times, they won’t. And those left suffering are left wondering and exploring the different what-if theories. Speculation never brings peace but instead allows the enemy to inflict further emotional pain.
During these times, an individual or family has to lean into the comforting arms of our Heavenly Father because He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those whose spirit is crushed. The Lord redeems those that look to Him, and He gives them a place of refuge. (Psalms 34:18-22)
God is faithful. And He gives us His Holy Spirit to be our Comforter. If you’re asking the why’s and pondering the what-ifs for something the enemy has taken from you, surrender your pain to the Good Shepherd. Allow Him to comfort you, bind up your wounds, and accept His peace of mind and peace of heart. (John 14:27)
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your peace. Help me to release my pain so You can bind up all my wounds. Please give me Your peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus’ name, amen.
