Push Through

Pain invaded Job’s life quickly and in an unwelcome way. He received bad news, then worse news and then even more devastating news. Job received news flashes that rocked his world and changed life as he knew it. Job’s life was turned upside down, and he didn’t do anything wrong. It was merely a testing of his faith. (Job 1:13-22)

Job suffered significant loss. He lost his family, status, wealth, and health. Things got so bad that Job curses the day he was born. But as we read throughout the book of Job, we discover the condition of Job’s heart. He had a deep relationship with God and had reverential respect for God. We also see that Job discovers some powerful realities about God as a result of his pain.

Job discovered true wisdom and understanding. He realized that there is only one way, and that’s God’s way. He knew the only source of real knowledge and understanding was gained through knowing and reverencing the One who created the universe and everything in it — Almighty God.

Like Job, when we face challenges that cause us deep pain, we have to shift our outlook. Our perspective must become one that is not self-focused but God-centered. Because when we focus on our Heavenly Father and His sovereignty, we begin to understand who He is and who we are in Him.

Moreover, we should understand that we don’t have to do anything wrong for calamity to strike. The challenge becomes discounting the whispers of the enemy, and not taking a position of self-pity. But instead, choose to walk by faith and trust our Heavenly Father, and then push through the pain and look to Him for healing and restoration. Remember, He wants the best for us.

Jesus is waiting for you to cast all your worries and anxiety on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). There is nothing too big for Him to handle. After all, He created the heavens, the earth, and all of creation, and He sustains it all (Nehemiah 9:6).

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your majesty and being my burden bearer. Help me to release my cares into Your capable hands. Reveal to me the vastness of Your glory and lead me to victory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  1. The devil so busy. My comment just disappeared soon as I finished. I am a frontliner who passed the Covid test and lost my job at the same time.I know God knows best. Both were blessings.I needed the test for a job I received immediately and was under stress and overworked at the other job.. had hardly anytime for prayer or reading. His Word says,He will neverr leave me,nor forsake me. He loves me and I, He.
