Testing Of Your Faith

Life is a test, and every challenge we face is significant. Big or small, the problems we encounter develop our character. How we choose to respond in the face of adversity will determine our outcome.

A crucial test that we face is how we act when we can’t feel God’s presence. God intentionally draws back sometimes, and we don’t sense His closeness. Similar to taking a test in school. The teacher doesn’t always hover close by, but intentionally steps outside the room. They are conveniently absent, but they are still close enough and attentively watching to see how we will respond when we think they aren’t paying attention.

King Hezekiah experienced this test. Our Father was conveniently distant from the king. The Bible tells us that God had “left” Hezekiah to test him and to know everything in his heart. Hezekiah had enjoyed a close fellowship with God. And at a pivotal point in the king’s life, God “left” him alone to test his character, reveal his weakness, and prepare him for more responsibility. (2 Chronicles 32:31)

God is preparing you for greater. He’s preparing you for more. In those seasons where you don’t sense His presence, He’s still there. Do not fear. Don’t depend on temporal things, but have faith in God. He promised never to leave or forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5

Your character will be defined by how you respond when you think no one’s watching and when you don’t sense the presence of our Heavenly Father. Will you have to retake your test?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for never leaving or forsaking me. Show me any areas in my life and heart that I don’t respond to as having the mind of Christ. Forgive me and cleanse me of all the secret sins of my heart. Please help me to pass my test. In Jesus’ name, amen.
