Love Is

We have to ask ourselves the question, do we love others with authentic love. And then honestly evaluate ourselves and our relationships. Because too often, people loosely use the word love when there is no real value or meaning behind them saying, I love you. 

Authentic love is patient, kind, not jealous, not self-serving, and not arrogant. Love always honor, is selfless, doesn’t anger easily, and doesn’t keep score of wrongs committed. Love rejoices with the truth, and it always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres, and hates evil. (1 Corinthians 13)

When we love God’s way, because He is love, we serve Him and others with genuine affection and faithfulness. We share the Good News, and uplift and encourage others with kindness and goodness. 

If you’re struggling in the area of love, it’s okay. God allows do-overs. Don’t let the enemy condemn you. Instead, repent and surrender your ways to our Heavenly Father. Allow God to teach you of His great love and make it grow and overflow towards others (1 Thessalonians 3:12). 

When our love is expressed in God’s way, it will bring joy and peace into our relationship with our Father and others. Our love will be evident and shine through because our actions always speak louder than our words. Therefore, let us not merely say that we love each other. But let us show the truth by our actions. (1 John‬ ‭3:18‬)

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your lovingkindness. Heal my heart of all hurts where Your love wasn’t present. Show me any areas in my life and any relationships where I need to grow in love. Help me to walk in an authentic love with You and others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
