Anxious For Nothing

Anxiety is a word that refers to uncertainty. At one point or another, anxiety is a problem we all experience. The feeling anxiety produces in us is uneasiness and uncertainty. It gives us a feeling of, oh no, what’s going to happen next? It’s a feeling that our feet have been pulled out from underneath us, and we have no idea if we’re going to fall, in what direction, or how hard.

Understanding that, there’s nothing about a circumstance that automatically creates anxiety within us. Instead, stress occurs because of the way we think and respond to a troubling situation.

Remember, everything begins in our mind, and what we choose to think about and what we choose to dwell upon determines how we move through life. Our thought life will determine whether or not we will trust God and allow Him to lead us, or if we will simply follow our own will, and continue to live a life that’s less than what God has for us.

When we understand that it’s not God’s purpose for us to feel anxious, he doesn’t allow situations in our life, so we’ll have anxiety. Our ability to choose is part of God’s gift of free will to everyone. You can decide how you feel. You can choose what you think about and how you will respond to a situation.

The sooner we realize that our loving Father may allow a situation in our life to help us grow and mature and to develop a stronger faith, and in some instances, to change a negative attitude or bad habit. But know that God doesn’t set us up to fail. He’s always at work to bring us to a place where we’ll trust Him more, walk in obedience to His will, and receive more of His blessings. His plans are not to harm us, but to prosper us, give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Choose to trust His plans and be anxious for nothing.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your perfect plan for my life. Help me to let go of all anxiety. Show me how to choose Your will rather than my own.

I look forward to seeing Your plans and the way You express Your love towards me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
