God Is Greater

Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah and his people, was going through something very similar to what we are facing in the world today – a pandemic, a shortage of food and economic strain in many places, and rumors of war in different regions (2 Chronicles 20:5-9).

The king recognized that the situation was far greater than he could handle and bring his people through. Jehoshaphat knew that prayer was needed to bring about deliverance amid their calamity. He knew that by recognizing God for who He is, our Redeemer, that it would move God’s heart towards compassion. As a result, he stood before the people, humbled himself, and petitioned the Lord.

Is your household struggling as a result of the current pandemic? Perhaps you’re experiencing anxiety, stress, financial hardship, a shortage of food and supplies. Just know that whatever it is, our God is greater.

We can take a lesson from the king, and pray together as a family, or even as a community. We can also pray that our merciful God touch the hearts of our local, state, and world leaders so that they come together seeking wisdom from the One who has all the answers.

God loves us and wants the best for us. His plans are to prosper us to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust in God’s promises knowing that our gracious God will meet every need.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your gracious love and mercy. Show me how to lead my family and give us peace. Meet the needs of all your people. Help us through this pandemic so that You will be glorified throughout the earth.
