We live in a fallen world, which means there are times we will face adversity and experience pain. We will go through periods of uncertainty. However, we must not be overcome by fear during these times and allow worry to rob us of our peace. Instead, we must lean on and trust the Lord. (Romans 8:18-22)
Remember, we have a friend in Jesus. He is One that is dependable and true. And although we might not always understand why He allows some things to happen, we can trust His sovereign will. We must continue to walk by faith, knowing that He is faithful and that we will overcome.
We can be reassured of our power when we know who we are in Christ. We must believe what our Father has said about us. In His word, he said that He did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, a sound mind, and love. Therefore, when something unexpected happens and fear or hurt tries to take over, we can return our negative emotions to the sender — our adversary, the devil. (2 Timothy 1:7)
When we love and lean on our Heavenly Father and have built a history with Him, we will recognize that we are stronger than we realized. We’ll notice that our judgment is rooted and Him. And that everything we do and how we respond will be centered around His love.
Moreover, we learn that there is no darkness in our Heavenly Father, but that He is light (1 John 1:5). So, when hurtful things happen to us in this fallen world, we see His sound judgment, we recognize His power, and we understand that He reacts to our situation out of His great love for us. And ultimately, we will begin to recognize His hand and compassion in our lives.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your goodness and gracious love. Reveal to me how You’ve moved in compassion in the circumstances I don’t understand. Show me Your kindness and mercy in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
