Sometimes it seems as if we continue to face adversity and setbacks. We get through one tough challenge, and then here comes another one and another one, as if we are going in circles. First the car, then our children, death of a loved one, a health crisis, or whatever it may be. It seems as if we can’t catch a break.
Joshua went through a similar experience. He spent most of his life facing challenges, setbacks, and heartache. Yet Joshua never stopped believing that our Heavenly Father would keep His promises and sustain him. Joshua held fast to his belief in God’s provisions, and in doing so, he saw God’s faithfulness manifested in his life. (Joshua 23)
It’s unfortunate bad things happen, but it’s because we live in a fallen world where people choose to serve themselves rather than serving God and His purpose. Same as Adam and Eve did in the very beginning (Genesis 3). But when terrible things happen, we can find solace in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
Like Joshua, we have to hold on to God’s unchanging hand. And know that His plans for us are plans to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). God loves us, and nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:35-39). He is patient and faithful. Our Heavenly Father wants only the best for us. Choose to trust in His faithfulness and remain steadfast in your faith, and see His promises fulfilled in your life.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being my Comforter and place of refuge. Help me to keep my eyes upon You even when I face hardships. Open my spiritual eyes so that I see how You are moving in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
