God knows the plans He has for us. His plans are for our wellbeing and to give us hope. He knows the outcome of every situation we will go through. Therefore, we can move forward with confidence, knowing that if we allow Him to lead us, we will be victorious in all that we do. (Jeremiah 29:11)
When we face unfamiliar territory, fear will try to creep in. We can see this in Joshua’s situation (Joshua 1). He faced a big challenge. He was commissioned to lead the Israelites into the land of Canaan, which was overrun with their enemies. Joshua faced uncertainty and was fearful. Probably asking himself, what have I gotten myself into? Have I taken on too much? Am I good enough? Do I have what it takes?
Despite what it looked like on the surface, we can learn a lesson from Joshua’s situation. God knew the secret of Joshua’s heart. And God took the time to speak to Joshua’s spirit, saying, “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.” (Joshua 1:6)
See, Joshua moved forward, trusting not in his own feelings, but moved ahead based on what God spoke to Him. And he overcame every obstacle he faced no matter how scary it may have seemed. Joshua allowed God to lead Him, and he was able to overcome adversity.
Our Heavenly Father loves you just that much too. He knows what’s in your heart. God will speak to you and guide you if you allow Him. Stop resisting and be still and know that He is God (Psalms 46:10). He wants a personal relationship with you and wants to be apart of every aspect of your life. Open your heart to hear Him. And then walk by faith and not by sight knowing that He will not let you fall. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your plans for my life. Help me to see that Your plans are perfect, and they are for my wellbeing. Lead and guide me in the way that You want me to go. In Jesus’ name, amen.
