Life Filled With Goodness

After God created the universe and everything in it, He gave Himself a day of rest and reflection (Genesis 2:2). So why is it that so many people keep busy by going from one thing to another day after day? Perhaps one reason is they use busyness to preoccupy their mind to numb themselves from internal restlessness.

Busyness can give us a sense of accomplishment, but it robs us of time with Our Heavenly Father. And anything we put before Him becomes an idol in our lives. Therefore, we have to be intentional about setting time aside daily to spend with our Lord. There must be a healthy balance in our lives for prayer, worship, work, family, hobbies, rest, and whatever we spend our time on.

We have to recognize that the enemy is crafty. He will use whatever he can to keep us from spending intimate time with our Heavenly Father and reflecting on His goodness — busyness with family, work, friends, hobbies, etc. We miss out on important and impactful time feeding our spirit with God’s word. Moreover, we miss out on spending time seeking our Father’s counsel to clean up and work out things in our lives that have us in a state of uneasiness on the inside. (Matthew 6:33)

However, we can derail the enemy’s plans and defeat him when we put into action the example God gave us from the very beginning. We have to rest and reflect on the goodness of hard work and the fruits it produces but recognize, acknowledge, and be grateful for our Father’s many blessings. It’s then that we find joy and contentment and the secret to living. We see a life filled with the goodness of the Lord. (Philippians 4:11-12)

Prayer: Lord, thank You for showing me how to live well. Show me how to find balance in every area of my life. And as I spend time with You, feed my spirit and fill me with Your peace and joy. In Jesus’ name, amen.
