It’s so easy to get distracted and take our focus off of God when we face stressful situations. But if we want victory in our circumstances, we have to return our attention to Him.
In Matthew 14, Peter gives us an example of how easily we can get distracted amid a storm. Peter was far from land, and the sea around him was raging, which created a sense of instability in his circumstances. Peter became terrified of the storm’s volatility, and it seemed that the waves and winds were going to overtake him, so he took his eyes off of Jesus and began to sink.
But Peter knew enough about our Father and called out to Him for help. And Jesus was readily available to take Peter’s hand and guide him to safety.
So we have to ask ourselves, how often do we have a similar reaction to Peter when we face storms in our life? Do we know enough about our Father that we call out to Him in our distress?
Friends, we don’t have to falter and sink. Like Peter, we can overcome our chaotic circumstances when we refocus on the Almighty. In times of uncertainty, we must recognize the presence of God. And know that He is a safe place for us to find rest (Psalms 91:2).
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being a shelter for rest. You are Almighty, and I praise You. Help me to keep my focus on You so that I’m victorious in any storm that I face. In Jesus’ name, amen.
