David was a man of God. And God called David “a man after God’s own heart.” (1 Samuel). But take notice, this did not exempt David from his share of tragedies and triumphs.
David was anointed king at a young age, but there was a waiting period before he was crowned king. The giant Goliath taunted David, but he overcame the giant in his life by slaying him. He was on the run for his life because king Saul was jealous and was trying to kill him. (1 Samuel)
David conquered Jerusalem and defeated the Philistines. David defeated Moab, Ammon, and Syria, bringing lasting peace to Israel. King David’s beloved son led a rebellion to take his throne. His son Absalom was murdered. David received a vision on Mt. Moriah and divine instructions to build God’s sacrificial altar. (2 Samuel)
See. We all have ups and downs, but such is life. But we can learn a great lesson from king David. Although he faced challenges that seemed impossible to overcome, David was always victorious with God’s help, strength, and wisdom.
Yes. David faced some of life’s hardest challenges — betrayal, jealously, rebellious children, adultery, a giant, disappointment, discouragement, and the list goes on.
However, in those times, he always repented of his sins and cried out to God for His help. David always acknowledged the Lord as the ultimate source of protection, honor, and restoration.
So, what challenges are you facing? What’s weighing you down? What’s holding you hostage in your mind and heart?
Tell the Lord about it, and then cast your burden upon Him for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). If it matters to you, it matters to God. He is your sustaining power.
Recognize that God is the real source in your life. Repent of transgressions in your heart, and trust in our Heavenly Father. Rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Declare Him as Lord over your life, and He will protect and sustain you in every area of your life.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your mighty hand. Help me to cast my cares upon You and leave them with You. I acknowledge You as the true Source in my life. Thank You for always sustaining and protecting me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
