What is hope? Worldly hope is when we are unsure of the outcome of something, so we hope for the best — I hope my favorite football team wins the super bowl, or I hope to win the raffle drawing at my child’s school fundraiser challenge.
However, biblical hope is when we have a confident expectation that God’s word is true. And that He is faithful to perform all that He has promised — Sarah considered God faithful and was enabled to bear children past her childbearing age. (Hebrews 10:23; 11:11)
See Sarah knew God and what it meant to hope in Him with an absolute determination in His faithfulness. Likewise, we have to know God. And form a bond with our Father and connect with Him on a personal level by learning of Him through His word, seeking Him in prayer, and worshiping Him for who He is, and it’s then that we are filled with joy and peace, and hope that lives. (Romans 15:13)
Moreover, we have to have a resolve in God’s abilities and His faithfulness. And it is of paramount importance that we understand the love that our Heavenly Father has for us. Then when we experience His love and accept it, we are filled with His hope.
So if you are struggling with experiencing godly hope and don’t see any Sarah moments in your life, reset your mind. Ask God to help you surrender to Him and seek His truth. Trust Him and call Him faithful so that you, too, can experience God in His fullness.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your steadfast faithfulness. Help me to surrender my will to you. Renew my mind and draw me closer to You. Show me Your love and devotion so that I can have hope that lives, and I can testify to Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
