Hope In The Darkness

Hope, what is it? Worldly hope is when we hope for the best possible outcome in our circumstances. But hope that comes from having a personal relationship with our Savior is when we have a confident expectation in what God will do for us when we’re facing hardship in our life.

The recent pandemic has brought the world as we know it to a screeching halt. It has caused fear to creep into the hearts and minds of many because of the impact its had on daily life.

The saying goes that fear is false evidence appearing real. During these times, what false evidence is the enemy whispering in your ear? You will get sick. You will go hungry. Your God is not in control. He’s forgotten about you. You won’t make it.

Although our current global circumstance poses a challenge and has caused hardship for many, we do not have to listen to the lies of the enemy. We are not exempt from the trails of this world, but we don’t have to allow fear to settle in. Instead, we can cast out doubt and fear because of God’s perfect love for us (1 John‬ ‭4:18‬).

While we’re in this valley of darkness, fear no evil, but remember what God has already done for us and that He is more than able to do it again. Its in dark times that we must allow our godly hope to kick in, and have an absolute resolve in Jesus Christ. And although it might seem that our current circumstances aren’t changing, God can be trusted.

Therefore, rejoice in hope, be patient in affliction, and be persistent in prayer (Romans‬ ‭12:12‬). Do not be troubled, but believe in God (John 14:1). He leaves with us peace of mind and heart; more specifically, His peace (John 14:27). God will be our hope in the darkness. He will work it out.

Prayer: Lord thank You for Your perfect love for me. Show me what’s false evidence in my current situation so that I can surrender it to You. Help me to have a confident expectation of Your goodness in all things. In Jesus’ name, amen.
