Love is an action word. We show our family and friends that we love them by sacrificing, caring, and providing for them even when they don’t necessarily deserve it.
Jesus showed us His great love when He laid down His life for our sins. He died a criminal’s death on the cross for us although we didn’t deserve it.
The grave could not hold Him. He overcame death and was resurrected with all power in heaven and earth so that we might be saved and reconciled back into our Heavenly Father (Matthew 27 & 28). Jesus’ great sacrifice and care provided a way for us to have an eternal home with Him. That is a great love.
God so desires and deserves our love in return. We show Him our great love when we keep His commands (John 14:15). When we deny ourselves, follow Jesus, and take up our cross daily, we lay down our life for Him (Luke 9:23-24).
Search the Scriptures and seek God to know Him and His commands. The greater your knowledge of Him, the greater your love will be for Him. It is our reasonable service to present our lives back to God (Romans 12:1). To live for God in such a way that shows Him that we love Him in return. How great is your love?
Prayer: Lord help me to seek You and Your kingdom so that I might not transgress against You. Open my spiritual eyes so that I might see how much You love, care and provide for me. Help me to build a personal relationship with You so that I might be able to show my love to You and for You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
