Set Free

John 8:31-32 NLT 31Jesus said to those who believed on him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

Jesus spoke these words and they are meant for everyone who believes in Him and who are faithful to His precepts. When we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, it doesn’t exempt us from the things of this world because after all we do live in this world.  But as believers we don’t have to be conformed to this world.

God wants us to be free. He wants us to be free from every weight that weighs us down. We don’t have to go through life feeling oppressed, depressed and suppressed. We can put away things from our past that are corrupt and deceitful according to our desire and renew the spirit of our mind by becoming a new person in Christ, and be governed by the precepts of God’s nature which is righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:22-24).

Study, meditate on, and live out God’s word. Walk with Jesus and allow Him to break the chains of bondage in your life. Allow His perfect work to set you free from shame that holds you captive and cause you internal torment. Take on the mind of Christ and become who God called you to be. Be set free in Jesus name!

Prayer: Lord thank You for teaching me the truth of Your word so that I can be set free in every area of my life. Help me to remain faithful to your teachings. You are the light of the world. Thank you for filling my mind and heart with Your light so that I can point others to You and they too can be set free. In Jesus’ name, amen.
