Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that something or someone can lead you to an outcome of danger, damage, or destruction. By contrast, faith is having complete trust or confidence in someone or something that will lead you to what is good.
When we allow our emotions to control us instead of surrendering them to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we will cause ourselves undue stress, anxiety, worry, and ultimately, we will find ourselves living in a state of constant fear which is contrary to what God wants for us.
The thief wants to take away our abundance of joy, peace, and stability; but we can’t allow him to rob us of what Jesus came to give us which is an abundant life (John 10:10).
As a child of the Most High God, we have to let go of those negative emotions and shift our mindset to what He has to say about the matter; which is He has a plan to prosper us, not to harm us, but to give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
Move beyond what you physically see to what the Word encourages you to do, and that is to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Trust in the fact that God loves you and wants the best for you. Jesus gave His life for you. Choose faith over fear.
Prayer: Lord show me any areas in my life where I’m being driven by fear rather than walking by faith. Show me how to turn these areas over to you so that I can rest in Your peace and strength. Help me to trust in Your love and abilities. Help me understand that everything will work for my good because I’m called according to Your purpose and I love You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
